About the game

A village with suspiciously many shields

Beyond the old forest stood a quiet village known for one thing above all else: shields. When the monsters came and there were no soldiers to call upon, four villagers stepped forward: a Warrior, a Rogue, a Cleric and an Archer.

In OverShielded every card is a round shield with four quarters, and each quarter holds its own package of effects: damage, healing, poison, shielding, parry, repositioning and more. The direction you swipe picks the hero; the quarter facing them decides what they do.

Enemies telegraph which position they will strike, so you can reshuffle your formation, raise a shield or hit first. Don't stall for too long, though: every move builds Pressure, and the monsters grow more dangerous.

Between fights you defend the city and grow your party. Upgrade shields, change their types, add new effects, find items and teach your heroes new skills.

Key features

What makes OverShielded different

  • The card is the puzzle. A round shield, four quarters, and one question on every turn: play it now, or rotate?
  • One-thumb play. No manual targeting: the swipe picks the hero, the target picks itself.
  • Formation matters. Enemies lock onto positions, not characters. Move a hero and the blow lands somewhere else.
  • Pressure. The longer a fight drags on, the harder enemies hit, so playing it safe has a cost.
  • Grow your deck between fights. Upgrades, shield types, new quarter effects, items and skill trees.
  • Pixel art and a short, lightly humorous story about a village full of shields.
